Big Box Companies are nothing more than grifters when it comes to Holiday shopping and their 'sales'.
I refuse to do any shopping during so-called shopping holidays such a Black Friday or Cyber Monday. I'm not limiting it to Amazon. I think Wal-Mart and other big box stores are lying too. I just happen to have sales receipts from prior purchases and screen shots of the same items for sale on Amazon on Black Friday.
In September of this year (2023) I made several purchases from Amazon.
One purchase was for a magnifying glass that was $21.59 and the other was for some Alexa smart plugs that were $22.49. On the so-called Black Friday sale on Amazon I decided to compare some of my prior purchases to their current sale.
Amazingly enough, the magnifying lamp and Alexa plugs I previously bought are now for sale as Black Friday Deals at 20% - 25% off, but are the EXACT SAME price I paid for them 2 months ago.
Also around 2 months ago I bought a solar trickle charger. It was 'regularly' $59.95 but I was 'lucky' enough to get a 'lightning' deal and it was only $50.59.
You may find this hard to believe, but this trickle charger is now listed on sale for 'Cyber Monday' and it's -37% off its so-called regular price of $79.95 for... wait for it........... $50.59.STOP BEING SCAMMED by these big companies that are trying to profit off of your gullibility. These companies are tricking you into buying items you don't want or don't need because they're 'such a good deal' that you can't pass them up. With rare exceptions, it's the same price as every other day. They are tricking you by creating a false sense of urgency and a false belief that you are saving money.
I compared other items in my purchase history. A few had prices a little lower. At least one item's price was significantly higher but, it wasn't advertised as a Black Friday deal or sale.
If you want to make a Holiday purchase why not try "Small Business Saturday"? They may or may not have a sale going on but, I feel much more confident that a small business is less likely to try and pull some Big Box Store word-play shenanigans. You're also helping out local people and the local economy.
